MICROPROPAGATION OF ONION (ALLIUM CEPA L.) THROUGH BULBLET FORMATION

Multiple shoot clumps or microclones were collected from two onion (Allium cepa L.) varieties for bulblet formation. MS medium supplemented with various concentrations of BAP, Kn, 2ip and NAA used. The height responded was observed 90% 80% in Taherpuri Indian variety, respectively on 2.0 mg l-1 BAP+0.5 NAA. best formation obtained containing 1.0 2ip. Finally, the rooted bulblets hardened established soil under natural environment.
